The National Symposium on Spanish as a Heritage Language

is an intellectual forum dedicated to the discussion and advancement of education and research to better support the strengths and diverse pedagogical needs of Spanish bilingualism in the United States. As a multidisciplinary meeting, we invite perspectives from cognate fields, hoping to broaden our views.

The 13th National Symposium on Spanish as a Heritage Language is scheduled to take place IN PERSON from Thursday, February 19 to Saturday, February 21, 2026, at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas. The event will follow its traditional format, featuring keynote addresses, conference presentations, academic panels, and workshops. This year, a special session will highlight Spanish as a heritage language outside the United States.
